To see the specific education requirements mandated by each state for Mortgage Loan Originators (MLOs), refer to the official NMLS State-Specific Education Requirements. Many MLO licensing agencies have unique state-specific requirements, covering details such as the required continuing education (CE) hours, CE submission deadlines, and other distinct rules.

This depends on your role and status, but generally includes an 8-hour CE (or 6-hour if compliance is already completed) plus any required state-specific courses.

Course providers may take up to 7 days to report completion to NMLS, so last-minute completion could delay license renewal.

Late CE is used to reinstate a license if CE was not completed before the deadline. If your license expired due to incomplete CE by December 31, you will need to complete Late CE. See the Late Continuing Education for Prior Year section for details.
